Can Jurgen Klinsmann’s side defend the Gold Cup crown they won in 2013 to seal a spot at the 2017 Confederations Cup?

Here are the goalkeepers who are tasked with making the U.S. national team champions of the CONCACAF region this summer.

Full name: Bradley Edwin Guzan
Age: 30
Hometown: Evergreen Park, Illinois
Position: Goalkeeper
Caps/goals: 31/0
Club: Aston Villa

Best moment in a US shirt: Guzan’s performance in the historic 0-0 draw with Mexico at Estadio Azteca in March 2014 has to rank among his best achievements with the United States. A display littered with stunning saves earned the U.S. just its second-ever point in World Cup qualifying at the Azteca.

Starter or squad player at Gold Cup? Starting goalkeeper as Guzan looks to put himself in the shop window after falling out of favor at Aston Villa last season. Also, Tim Howard will return to the U.S. fold in September, so this is Guzan’s last big chance to impress.

Full name: Nicholas Paul Rimando
Age: 36
Hometown: Montclair, California
Position: Goalkeeper
Caps/goals: 21/0
Club: Real Salt Lake

Best moment in a U.S. shirt: His run as starter for nearly every game of the 2013 Gold Cup tournament, in which the Yanks reclaimed the title for the first time since 2007 with a 1-0 win over Panama in the final. Plus, his stellar second half display away to the Czech Republic in a 2-1 friendly win for the U.S. back in 2014.

Starter or squad player at Gold Cup? Second-choice keeper but a very able deputy to Guzan.

Full name: William Yarbrough
Age: 26
Hometown: Aguascalientes, Mexico
Position: Goalkeeper
Caps/goals: 2/0
Club: Club Leon

Best moment in a U.S. shirt: Making his debut away to Switzerland, Yarbrough looked assured and made some good saves as well as looking composed when coming for crosses. For a goalkeeper, he is young, but with Rimando and Howard coming towards the end of their careers, Yarbrough will have plenty of minutes in the USMNT jersey ahead of him.

Starter or squad player at Gold Cup? Third-choice goalkeeper for this tournament. He’s going for the experience.
