Ed Malyon is the Spanish and European correspondent for the Daily Mirror, and he’s got some startling reaction from Ronaldo after the match. Some is on-point, and some is obtuse.Cristiano Ronaldo: “Iceland only tried to defend... they had two chances and then did not try to score.”

More Ronaldo: “They celebrated like they had won the Euro cup or something. That’s a small mentality. That’s why they’ll do nothing.”

That’s small-time from Ronaldo, even if it’s rooted in truth. Some things are best left unsaid, and if the Portuguese captain is that wrapped up in roasting a small nation that just pulled off more than some were expecting for the whole group stage, then it’s no wonder Portugal has underachieved in his tenure “in charge”.
And The Mountain is not going to be amused by CR7’s comments.
