Olivier Giroud has been flying in this season’s UEFA Champions League, and he could use more of the same if Arsenal is to take down mighty Barcelona.

Giroud has five goals in five UCL matches this year -- four starts -- as the Gunners are again in the Round of 16. He’s added 12 goals in the Premier League, though he hasn’t netted in his last 7, and perhaps the tonic is opposition from the continent.

Really, really good opposition.

“We would love to beat them because they look unstoppable,” he said. “We need to play our best game all together and at 100 per cent. Otherwise we’re not going to play this game and we’re going to lose it.

“We are confident, we need to be confident and play the Arsenal way. We did well against Munich. We know that we can beat big teams but there is one thing for sure: we need to be at 100 per cent and be determined.”

Giroud has been clutch in the competition, burying a hat trick against Olympiacos and netting against Bayern Munich as well.

Throw in Alexis Sanchez’s three goals since mid-October, and you’ve got two stars in dire need of a breakout performance. Seems Tuesday would be a huge day for the Arsenal way to go the way of their stars.
