Arsenal’s Pablo Mari injured in mass stabbing in Italy

Prior to Unai Emery's appointment as new Aston Villa manager, The Kelly & Wrighty Show debated whether the club has exhibited a pattern of not backing its gaffer.

One person is dead and Arsenal’s Pablo Mari is among at least four people injured in a mass stabbing at a supermarket in Northern Italy.

Mari, 29, is on loan to Serie A side Monza and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says the player is hospitalized but “seems to be okay.”

Arsenal said the club was “shocked to hear the dreadful news about the stabbing in Italy,” while Monza CEO Adriano Galliani released the following statement:

“Dear Pablo, we are all here close to you and your family, we love you, keep fighting as you know how to do, you are a warrior and you will get well soon.”

The BBC reports that the deceased is an employee of the super market and that a 46-year-old with “mental health problems” has been detained by police.

Mari has made nine appearances for Monza and scored a goal in an Oct. 9 win over Spezia.
