Barcelona has announced the signing of manager Luis Enrique on a two-year contract.

The former Barca midfielder guided Celta Vigo to a ninth-place finish in La Liga this season, but announced he’d be leaving the club on May 16.

He replaces Tata Martino, who resigned after Barca failed to beat Atletico Madrid this weekend.

From FCBarcelona.com:
“The FC Barcelona Board of Directors have this evening confirmed Luis Enrique Martíneza the new first team coach, following a proposal from Sporting Director Andoni Zubizarreta. Luis Enrique, 44 , will sign a two year deal.”

Enrique had also managed AS Roma, but controversially left the club after failing to lead the club into Europe.

The Board also announced the signing of Marc-André Ter Stegen and the return of the on loan @Rafinha and @gerardeulofeu #fcblive

Deulofeu was a danger man when healthy for Everton, while Rafinha was with Enrique at Celta Vigo this season. Ter Stegen has long been considered headed for Barca, even dating back to last summer, and now it’s official.

Those are three high-profile “additions” for a club that could still face a transfer ban despite it currently being under suspension.
