Belgium’s Courtois goes off: “Italy outclassed us in organization, tactically”

Belgium v Italy - Group E: UEFA Euro 2016

Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has no problem putting the blame for Monday’s 2-0 loss to Italy with the game plan.

In doing so, the Chelsea man also happened to be lauding his new boss.

Aside for a few saves from Gianluigi Buffon, Antonio Conte’s Italy never really seemed in danger in its first match of EURO 2016, despite the presumption that Gli Azzurri would be down and Belgium was on the rise.

From the BBC:

“Now we have to win the other two matches and be a better team. Italy outclassed us in organization, and tactically they were the best team.”

Maybe Courtois is crediting Conte instead of taking a shot at his national team boss, Marc Wilmots, or maybe the keeper has some of the symptoms of the sick that plagued Chelsea last season.

Meanwhile, Conte hailed the “alchemy” of Italy’s unit ahead of the second encounter of the tournament, one that will see Sweden take on the Azzurri.
