Remi Garde couldn’t clean up Tim Sherwood’s mess at Aston Villa, and now the Frenchman is putting that task in someone else’s hands.
The former Lyon manager, 49, could not get Villa’s house in order after a dreadful start to the season saw Sherwood lose his job. The club is operating after a board overhaul, and the numbers say Garde was in close to a “no win” situation.

Villa did not spend money in the January window to strengthen the club ahead of a massive relegation battle, and the Birmingham side is all but in the Championship.
Garde finishes up at Villa with 3 wins, 7 draws and 13 losses in all competitions.

The Club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Rémi for all his efforts during a difficult period and wish him well in the future.
Eric Black will take over as acting manager until the Club appoints a new manager.
There will be no further comment from the Club at this stage.
Garde obviously won’t go down as a success at Villa Park, but the club’s fortunes have consistently been sinking to new lows. USMNT goalkeeper Brad Guzan will return to England to a new boss.
