Brek Shea closer to first-team action for Stoke City
Stoke City manager Tony Pulis will not say whether Brek Shea will get his first starting assignment for the club Saturday – but it sure doesn’t sound like we’ll see the former FC Dallas man among the first-teamers against Fulham.
The big news around the club is Marc Wilson’s return from a broken leg, as the Irish international looks to get his first action with the full team since October.
Pulis says he is “desperate” to get Wilson back in the fold.
And Shea? Well …
This is where Pulis starts referring to the offseason surgery that kept Shea out of action – and, importantly, out of the U.S. national team January camp – and how much catching up the young man has to do and … well:
Even if Shea doesn’t get on the field for kickoff at Craven Cottage (7:30 a.m. Saturday, ESPN2), Pulis sounds optimistic the rangy left winger will be in his 18-man squad.
