Bayern Munich nodded to Borussia Dortmund as the two German giants look set to renew their top of the table battle after a year off, while another Bundesliga power is shocking 0-5.

Here’s what’s gone down in the past 24 hours, with a big Sunday on the horizon as well.

Koln 1-0 Borussia Monchengladbach

Is Fabian Johnson that important to both club and country? ‘Gladbach continues to be mired at the bottom of the table, points in five, in a slightly-less surprising fall-off than Borussia Dortmund a year ago. Anthony Modeste scored his fourth goal of the young season, propelling the hosts to the win.

Darmstadt 0-3 Bayern Munich

Kingsley Coman, Sebastian Rode and Arturo Vidal all netted for the visitors, who took a minimum 24-hour lead on Borussia Dortmund atop the Bundesliga table. Bayern had a two-thirds advantage in shots and tackles won, a comprehensive victory.

Werder Bremen 0-1 Ingolstadt

A match-up of USMNT players Aron Johannsson and Alfredo Morales ended contentiously, as a Moritz Hartmann PK was the only tally. It was followed by a red card to Werder’s Philipp Bargfrede. Morales logged the fourth-most distance in the match, while both U.S. players registered a shot on target.
