While England’s massive 3-2 victory over Germany on Saturday was the lead storyline of the night in the U.K., goalkeeper Jack Butland will have to be reassessed following a damaging ankle injury sustained in the match.

The 23-year old Stoke City keeper was forced out of the match on the stroke of halftime with the injury, and required a stretcher for his removal.

Butland will undergo scans in order to determine the severity of injury, however, England manager Roy Hodgson said it’s too early to speculate about the keeper in his post-match press conference.
Butland was hurt prior to Germany’s opening goal of the evening in the 43rd minute, but remained on the pitch until Toni Kroos’ strike beat the ailing net-minder. With Joe Hart among the notables not featured in the squad due to injury, Southampton’s Fraser Forster stepped in to fill the duties for Butland.
Second half goals by Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Eric Dier provided England with the stunning comeback, which boasted the team’s morale following Butland’s unfortunate exit.
