Chelsea 3-0 Leicester: Blues hammer disjointed Foxes

First half strikes from Diego Costa and Eden Hazard put Chelsea in cruise control for the rest of the match.

Chelsea beat Leicester City 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday as Antonio Conte won the battle of the Italian managers.

First half goals from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa set Chelsea on their way and a late goal from Victor Moses sealed the deal as Chelsea dominated a disjointed Leicester City outfit. Claudio Ranieri’s reigning champs have now lost all four of their away games to open up this season.

The win leaves Chelsea with 16 points from eight games, while Leicester has just eight points.

Chelsea started off in fine form and set the tone for the entire match after seven minutes. A corner from the right was flicked to the back post by Nemanja Matic and Costa was on hand to score his seventh Premier League goal of the season. 1-0.

David Luiz then hit the post with an audacious dipping, swerving free kick and soon after Chelsea were 2-0 up.

Pedro was bundled over but kept possession of the ball and fed it to Hazard who rounded Kasper Schmiechel and then slotted home coolly with Chelsea carving apart Leicester’s defense at will. Leicester rarely threatened in a dominant first half display by Chelsea.

The Foxes, predictably, improved in the second half but Chelsea still looked the more dangerous.

Pedro had a handball shout waved away, then Moses went clean through but was thwarted and N’Golo Kante (playing against his former club for the first time) was everywhere. Kante burst through late on but his shot was superbly blocked by Wes Morgan as Leicester were second best throughout.

Luiz deflected Marc Albrighton’s effort onto his own post, but that was as close as Leicester got to pulling a goal back.

Chelsea added s superb third goal late on as Nathaniel Chalobah’s wonderful flick set up the impressive Moses who rifled home.

3-0 was how it finished as Conte’s switch to a 3-4-3 formation has made his team more solid, plus with Costa and Hazard on form, Chelsea’s resurgence is clear for all to see.
