Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho drops big hint over Radamel Falcao signing

Jose Mourinho has dropped a big hint that a swoop for Colombian striker Radamel Falcao could be on the horizon for Chelsea.

Falcao, 29, returned to parent club AS Monaco after a disappointing season on loan at Manchester United in 2014-15 where he managed to score just four goals in 29 appearances for the Red Devils.

Monaco is still looking to offload Falcao this season and the former FC Porto and Atletico Madrid striker, who proved to be prolific at both of those clubs with 142 goals in 178 games before lean spells in France and England, could be given the chance to regain his scoring touch at Chelsea under Mourinho.

Speaking on the even of the 2015 Copa America tournament to DirecTV Sport in South America, the Chelsea boss had the following to say when asked about the possibility of Falcao arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer.
“If I can help Falcao reach his level again, I will do it,” Mourinho said. “It hurts me that people in England think that the real Falcao is the one we saw at Manchester United.”

Falcao will captain the Colombian national team at the Copa America this summer as he looks to regain his form and prove to the world that he still has what it takes to perform at the top level. His season at United was blighted with niggling injuries and a loss of faith by manager Louis van Gaal, and many believe Falcao has struggled to fully recover from rupturing the ACL in his left knee in January 2014.

For Chelsea, grabbing Falcao on loan for a season could be a great piece of business.

With a year of experience in the Premier League under his belt and the desire to prove people wrong, we could see ‘El Tigre’ fight back and thrive. Of course there is the slight problem that he may not be first-choice at Chelsea, just like at United, as Diego Costa is the main man but the Blues desperately need reinforcements up top with Didier Drogba moving on and only Loic Remy in support of Costa.

More so than that, Falcao desperately needs another chance to show he can cut it in one of Europe’s top leagues. Mourinho usually has a knack of getting the best out of players everyone has already written off.
