There’s never been any question that Diego Costa enjoyed his time in Spain, and the Chelsea striker has revealed his desire this summer to make a return to La Liga.

Costa, now in his third season in the Premier League, says that had it not been for “a few details” that he would have gone back to Atletico Madrid and admitted that he misses the club.

“I wished I could go back to Atletico, I’m not going to lie,” Costa said.

“Everyone knows what happened to me in England, with the language, the weather and everything. But I can’t complain because I’m a boy whom the fans love, at Chelsea they respect me. I had the chance to go back but I couldn’t, because of a few details. I’m grateful to the people at Atletico, to Cholo [Simeone] especially, who has always put his confidence in me.

“Now I am at Chelsea, I’m doing well, the league has started and I’m focused on that. Things are how they are. I hope that Atletico do very well, like last season but this time win titles. I want the best for them, I always feel for them, but I have to do my work at Chelsea.”

Since joining the Blues, Costa has notched 39 goals at Stamford Bridge and provided Chelsea with their most consistent attacking presence since the exit of storied striker Didier Drogba, who now plies his trade with the Montreal Impact.

Although Atletico could likely use a talent like Costa after getting off to a rough start to open La Liga play, the experienced goalscorer continues to shine in England and appears to be acclimating himself better to life in London as he enters his third season with Chelsea.
