Emmanuel Adebayor has scored goals wherever he has gone and Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew hopes that trend will continue.

On Tuesday it was announced by the club that Adebayor, 31, has signed a deal with the Eagles until the end of this season.

While it has been reported that a clause to extend the deal for a further 12 months is present in the contract.

Adebayor left Tottenham Hotspur last September after agreeing to cancel his contract following manager Mauricio Pochettino telling him he wasn’t part of his plans.

Palace have now pounced to sign the experienced forward who includes Monaco, Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid among his former employers and has netted 76 times in 230 Premier League games for Arsenal, City and Spurs.

He is said to be a difficult character to handle but with Palace desperately needing a focal point of their attack to finish chances created by Yannick Bolasie, Wilfried Zaha and Yohan Cabaye, it is worth the gamble on Adbeayor’s temperament to try and keep their season intact.

The Eagles have lost four games in a row -- slipping to 11th place in the table -- and haven’t won in six, only scoring one goal in that stretch.

Connor Wickham has failed to deliver after his move from Sunderland, while Dwight Gayle, Marouane Chamakh and Frazier Campbell have been given plenty of chances to prove themselves but the trio have scored a single PL goal between them.
