DC United makes its formal with 16-year-old U.S. captain Durkin
Updating a previous post, DC United has inked 16-year-old central midfielder/defender Chris Durkin to a Homegrown Player deal.
Durkin is the captain of the United States U-17 national team, and a member of the U.S. residency program.

DC says Durkin will train with United’s senior team until August, when he’ll join the U.S. for U-17 World Cup preparation.
This is a name to monitor. Sure, lots of players flake out but Durkin has attracted interest from overseas (not that that’s justification for hype). The stalwart teenager is part of a class that includes Erik Palmer-Brown of young kids taking different developmental paths.
