Everton has added some support for Romelu Lukaku up top, signing Uruguayan striker Leandro Rodriguez to a four-year deal. The 22-year-old comes to Goodison Park from Uruguayan side River Plate Montevido, where he scored 19 goals in 71 games for his hometown club. Manager Roberto Martinez was very high on the signing, saying Rodriguez won’t need any time with the reserves, and could make an immediate impact in the Premier League.
The Toffees also added to their defense, as Roberto Martinez confirmed Ramiro Funes Mori would join the club from Argentinian side River Plate. Mori was seen at Goodison Park when Everton took on Manchester City over the weekend, and the club is now waiting on his international clearance. The 24-year-old defender was born in Argentina but spent some of his childhood in America, before returning to his home country to play for River Plate in 2011. He made one appearance for the Argentinian national team earlier this year.

Sunderland has signed Swedish international Ola Toivonen on a season-long loan, as Dick Advocaat tries to add some offense to his struggling side. Toivonen comes to the Stadium of Light from French side Rennes, and played under Advocaat during his time at PSV Eindhoven, where he scored 61 goals for the Dutch club. Toivonen can play as a striker or in an attacking midfield role, both of which are needed at Sunderland.
There seems to be some confusion at Manchester City, as the club sold 19-year-old attacking midfielder Rony Lopes to French side Monaco for about $14 million. Earlier today, Manuel Pellegrini said in a press conference that Lopes was part of the future of the club and would only go out on loan, but hours later the club announced he had been sold to Monaco on a permanent deal. The Portuguese U-21 international spent last season in France on loan with Lille.
As reported earlier today, Tottenham Hotspur has signed South Korean international Heung-Min Son from Bayer Leverkusen for $30 million.
