Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Ronald Koeman’s superb Southampton side was nearly over when, in the 86th minute, a supporter ran on the pitch, right in front of a seated Arsene Wenger.
The fan had his arms outstretched while the 65-year-old, awaiting the negative result, sat in the dugout at St. Mary’s Stadium.
Two security men took the supporter away, while Wenger threw his hands out--although it’s unknown if the Frenchman’s frustration was evident because his view of the field was being blocked.
The Gunners’ manager voiced to media that the invader didn’t appear to be a bad guy.
“Hey was a young, boy, yes, I think he was a Southampton fan. He was not aggressive at all. I don’t think he said anything.” Wenger said, per the Daily Mail.

Sky Sports also detailed the occurrence with excerpts from a police report:“Police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Lymington following an incident on the pitch at St Mary’s at the end of the Southampton versus Arsenal match,” a Hampshire Police spokesman said.
“The man was arrested on suspicion of going in to an area adjacent to the playing area contrary to the Football (Offences) Act 1991.
“The man remains in police custody. Officers are investigating the circumstances to establish whether any criminal offences have been committed.”Arsenal had relished good form up to this game, which snapped a four-game unbeaten run as Wenger appeared to have his squad in recovery mode after enduring subpar outcomes in November.
