Bayern Munich’s holding midfielder Luiz Gustavo is a wanted man. London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal are both battling it out to bring in the Brazilian midfielder, who will win the race? Bayern have admitted that big clubs are chasing the 26-year-old and a fee of $23 million may prize him away from the Allianz Arena. Both Arsenal and Chelsea could do with a pure holding midfield player. Going forward both teams are stacked with options but Gustavo provides a solid presence sitting in front of the back four and rarely gives the ball away. Chelsea have John Obi Mikel and the Gunners have Mikel Arteta but I’d say Gustavo would be a step up on those two.

Could Carlton Cole be signing for Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer? According to reports this morning, the former West Ham United played has been training with Spurs this week and may provide Andre Villas-Boas with some much needed cover. Cole’s wages would be cheap, as he’d likely jump at the chance to stay in the Premier League. He could add size and an extra dimension of the bench later in the game if Tottenham need a goal. Injuries in the past few years have stunted his progress, but in his prime with the Hammers and as a youngster at Chelsea, Cole shone and has been capped by England. The 29-year-old may be a decent pick up.

Everton and Liverpool are battling it out for Granada’s left back Guilherme Siqueira, with the 27-year-old Spaniard at the center of a Merseyside tug of war. The attacking full back has a release clause of $30 million in his contract but Granada will apparently accept just $12 million for Siqueira. Last year the club turned down a deal from Valencia but now they’re looking to sell their prized asset. Comfortable with the possession based style in La Liga, Siqueira would fit in well at both Everton and Liverpool. If he joined the Toffees it would perhaps come after they’ve sold Leighton Baines... which doesn’t seem like happening anytime soon. Liverpool definitely need to bolster their full back options, so they’re the favorites right now.

Hull City, or whatever they’re called now, are lining up a move for FC Twente midfielder Willem Janssen. The 27-year-old midfielder has been recommended by former Twente and England national team coach Steve McClaren. So what can Tigers fans expect? Well, Janssen is good on the ball but can also break up the play in the center of the field. He could give Hull extra depth to their squad. Twente want $3.4 million for Janssen, so why not take a gamble?

David Moyes may be saying goodbye to Dutch left back Alexander Buttner, as the youngster may head to Turkish side Besiktas. Reports in Holland are linking Buttner with a move after he failed to put any pressure on Patrice Evra last season. The 24-year-old Dutch international did play well when called upon, but he’s believed to want regular playing time ahead of the World Cup next summer. United can’t guarantee him that. But does this also mean Leighton Baines could be arriving? Gossip galore.
