Good news from Stoke: U.S. international Geoff Cameron is ready to go.
Since undergoing hernia surgery following an injury in Stoke City’s League Cup game against Portsmouth on August 27, Cameron has been out injured. However, ProSoccerTalk can confirm that Cameron is scheduled to return to full training with the Potters on Friday.

Stoke’s upcoming game against Newcastle next Monday (Watch live on NBCSN, 3 p.m. ET and online via Live Extra) may come too soon for Cameron, but he is expected to be ready to play against Sunderland on Oct. 4.
This positive update on Cameron’s fitness will come as a big boost to U.S. national team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann ahead of his squad being named for the October friendlies against Ecuador in Hartford (Oct. 10) and Honduras in Miami (Oct. 14). Cameron started three of the USA’s four games at the 2014 World Cup as Klinsmann’s boys reached the round of 16, but lost to Belgium in extra time. Cameron’s ill-timed hernia injury forced him to pull out of the U.S. squad for their friendly vs. Czech Republic on Sept. 3 but he is now ready to roll for the Stars and Stripes.
Cameron, 29, was linked with a move away from Stoke all summer but has remained at the Britannia Stadium for the time being.
The former Houston Dynamo man has been a mainstay for the PL club in each of the last two seasons since he moved to England from Major League Soccer. Deployed in a right back spot over the past two seasons, Cameron will be given the opportunity to play in his natural position of holding midfield or central defense by Mark Hughes this term, as Stoke aim to kick on from their first-ever top 10 finish last season.
Now that Cameron is back in full training, the American can help Stoke build on their solid start to the current campaign as they sit in 13th place in the PL with five points from five games so far.
