Olivier Giroud’s opener against Hull City in Tuesday’s FA Cup replay got close to a bona fide assist from David Meyler.

As you may know, Meyler is on the other team.

The Tigers midfielder gifted an inexplicably poor choice of a bad pass right on the money to Giroud, who walked onto the ball as the Hull players assumed there was intention behind it.

Yes, it was that bad.

Fortunately and unfortunately for Meyler, the end result was a blowout. Giroud scored again, and Theo Walcott scored a brace of his own in the second half to push the Gunners into a quarterfinal match against Watford on March 13.

Arsenal is looking to become the first three-peat winners of the FA Cup since Blackburn Rovers in 1886.
