Mark Hughes went into his 100th match as Stoke City boss with a red-hot team on a three-match winning streak, and the Potters looked set to keep fulfilling their early season potential.

But an early injury to side mainstay Geoff Cameron shook up the Potters, and then Troy Deeney and Almen Abdi did the rest in a 2-0 Watford win at the Britannia Stadium.

Cameron’s replacement, Marc Wilson, committed the giveaway that gifted Watford its insurance goal.

From Hughes via Stoke’s official website:

“We were adversely affected when Geoff had to come off because he gives us that ability and that calmness on the ball,” Hughes said. “It looks like he has pulled his thigh unfortunately which means he will probably be out for a couple of weeks.

“That’s a shame because he has been one of our star performers this season and we really missed him today.”

Cameron left in the ninth minute with the thigh leg injury, but Stoke are hopefully he will only be out for 7-10 days. With CONCACAF World Cup qualifying on the horizon, we’ll be sure to keep an eye on the USMNT’s defender’s status.
