“I swore to protect you": Italy’s Buffon pens poetic missive to his goal

Gianluigi “Gigi” Buffon has a relationship few understand, and it’s with the goal he defends.

The legendary Italian keeper recently set a new Serie A shutout streak for most consecutive minutes without conceding a goal, one that ended at 974 minutes.

Naturally, he turned to prose. Buffon responded by writing a bit of a love letter to said goal.
