Kevin Doyle is going from a promotion push to the Rocky Mountains.
The Ireland and Wolverhampton striker, 31, is set to join the Colorado Rapids attack on July 1, becoming the club’s third Designated Player in history. The Rapids say it’s a two-and-a-half year contract with a club option for 2018.

Signed from Reading to Wolverhampton in 2009, Doyle has recently had loan stints at QPR and Crystal Palace.
He’s been capped 61 times by Ireland, and scored twice for his country in 2014.

Doyle has been on the outside of Wolves’ lineup for most of the year, and his lone club goal came while on loan to Crystal Palace this Fall, and that was in the FA Cup against Dover. It will be interesting to see whether he fits the bill of a DP contract in Colorado given his struggles to find playing time with his Championship club.
Wolves have been led in scoring this year by Bakary Sako (12), Nouha Dicko (10) and Benik Afobe (8).
