LA Galaxy president Chris Klein admitted to talking with Jermaine Jones last week, and now they’ve taken the next step.
The Galaxy announced Tuesday that they’ve acquired the right to Jones from Colorado in exchange for LA’s first round pick in January’s SuperDraft.
The pick will be LA’s highest selection held 24 hours before the draft.

Jones, 35, helped turn around the fortunes of New England when he arrived after the 2014 World Cup, helping the Revs to the MLS Cup.
He took a risk by joining Colorado on a one-year deal for under market value last offseason, and the Rapids darted into Supporters’ Shield contention as well as the Western Conference Finals.
Oddly enough, Jones’ inclusion in the United States men’s national team will be a primary concern for ex-LA coach Bruce Arena.
