Manchester United’s transfer activity is not over.

Manager Jose Mourinho said as much as he keeps United’s fans hanging on tenterhooks waiting for the much talked about arrival of Paul Pogba for a world record fee of over $130 million.

Speaking to BT Sport after Wayne Rooney’s testimonial game against Everton on Wednesday, Mourinho didn’t want to talk about the Juventus and France midfielder specifically.

“We are going to sign one more player for sure,” Mourinho said. “I don’t want to speak about Paul (Pogba) because he is a Juventus player and I don’t like other managers to speak about my players. I don’t speak about their players. But the reality is we are going to sign one more player. The market closes, as you know, August 31 so we have plenty of time to do that, but I’d like to do it before the Premier League starts.”

With reports suggesting that United are also in the market for an experienced central defender, Mourinho is keeping his cards close to his chest.

Jose Fonte has been linked with a move to United to help nurture young central defender Eric Bailly, with Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind Mourinho’s only other options at center back.

The Portuguese manager is now just nine days away from his debut season in charge at Old Trafford and United face reigning Premier League champs Leicester City in the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium this Sunday.

If Pogba does arrive he likely won’t be fully fit until early September after having an extended break away this summer following France’s run to the EURO 2016 final.

Yet, is it Pogba that he’s talking about or is Mourinho discussing his quest to bring in a new central defender?
