Jose Mourinho's hot start with Manchester United has quickly flamed out after a stunning loss to Watford. ProSoccerTalk's Joe Prince-Wright discusses what Mourinho needs to do in order to right the ship.

Jose Mourinho is not having it from all of you clever clogs out there.

Following Manchester United’s EFL Cup third round win against third-tier Northampton Town on Wednesday, Mourinho has criticized “football Einsteins” for undermining his managerial ability and the Red Devils’ prowess as a club.

Mourinho, 53, was speaking to United’s in-house TV station, MUTV, and latched a scathing attack on widespread criticism from pundits, fans and the media as United lost all three of their games last week against Manchester City, Feyenoord and Watford.

Here he goes...

“I know that some football Einsteins - football is full of Einsteins - I know that they tried to delete 16 years of my career,” Mourinho said. “They tried to delete an unbelievable history of Man United football club and to focus on a bad week with three bad results. But that’s the new football - it’s full of Einsteins. I can understand clearly the disappointment if the fans are disappointed with the last week. I understand completely, but I’m sure that with the team going back home [against Leicester City on Saturday] they will be behind the team like they always are.”

United host reigning Premier League champions Leicester City this Saturday (Watch live, 7:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN and online via NBC Sports) at Old Trafford.

Should we be expecting plenty of fans to be dressed up as the famous physicist Einstein, wagging their finger emotively in Mourinho’s direction? Probably not.

Although, unless he decides to play Michael Carrick or Ander Herrera in midfield to unleash Paul Pogba -- that could mean dropping Wayne Rooney -- to attack, there may be plenty more fans and media questioning Mourinho’s intellect after this weekend if his team don’t get back to winning ways in the PL.

Mourinho is already digging in and creating a classic siege mentality between his club and the outsiders.
