The German coach has won his first trophy as Liverpool manager, leading the Merseyside club to their sixth European title as they edged past Spurs in a final lacking quality.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Klopp hailed the spirit and fight of his players as they were pegged back in the second half by Spurs and had Alisson to thank for a string of fine saves.
“I am so happy for the boys all these people, and my family. They suffer for me, they deserve it more than anybody. Did you ever see a team like, this, fighting with no fuel in the tank? And we have a keeper who makes difficult things look easy. It is the best night of our professional lives. It took a while, it is important for our development and improvement, This little mark helps a lot, now we can carry on. The owners never put pressure on us.
Klopp has given Liverpool’s fans another memorable European success and he intends to have his fair share of drinks with them.
Told to go and celebrate the win, this was his response.
“Normally 20 minutes after the game I am half drunk, but now I have only had water!” Klopp added.
He was then heard screaming “where are the f****** drinks?” when walking back into the tunnel after the celebrations.
Never change Jurgen. Never change.
