Southampton dropped points at home today in a 1-0 loss to Swansea City, thanks to a stunning strike from Jonjo Shelvey late in the match. Despite the loss, Saints’ boss Ronald Koeman believes Southampton was the better side throughout the match and that they were “unlucky” to walk away with nothing.

Koeman believes that Swansea City was playing for the draw, saying “They came for one point and they got three points, and we have to accept that.” Southampton dominated the match but failed to beat Lukasz Fabianski, who came up with a few fine saves for the Swans.

The loss saw Southampton drop to fourth place on the table, sitting a point behind Manchester United for the third position. Swansea City sit ninth, a point clear of Stoke City at the middle of the pack.

In the end of his interview, Koeman dropped a hint regarding Southampton’s plans as the transfer window closes tomorrow. The Dutchman said usually at least one deal comes through on deadline day, and gave a slight grin as he said the club may make an announcement tomorrow.
