What can you say about Barcelona at this point? Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez and Neymar and Co. are 37 games unbeaten across all competitions, and eight points clear of second-place Atletico Madrid in the race for the 2015-16 La Liga title. They’ve booked their place in the final of the Copa del Rey. The domestic double is on. They’re odds-on favorites to become the first back-to-back Champions League winners since AC Milan in 1989 and 1990. The treble is on. They’ve already won this year’s Club World Cup. The quadruple is on, and at this point, would you really bet against them doing it? I wouldn’t.
Atletico Madrid 3-0 Deportivo La Coruña
The only thing keeping La Liga at least halfway interesting at the very top this season is Atleti, who while now eight points behind, are running circles around their capital city rivals. With Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Deportivo, Atleti are seven points clear of Real Madrid in the race to finish second behind one of the greatest club sides of all time. Saturday’s goals came courtesy of Saul Niguez, Antoine Griezmann and Angel Correa.
