Man City 4-0 Bournemouth: De Bruyne’s brilliance keeps City perfect

Kevin De Brunye continues his sizzling start to the PL season with a brilliant free kick to give Man City an early lead.

10-man Manchester City beat Bournemouth 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday as Pep Guardiola’s side made it five wins from five to open up their Premier League campaign.

The brilliant Kevin de Bruyne opened the scoring, then Kelechi Iheanacho added another before half time. Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan both scored in the second half and the only negative for Guardiola was Nolito getting sent off late on.

With the win City stay perfect and remain top of the table, while Bournemouth have lost three of their opening five games of the season.

De Bruyne had a shot after 12 seconds which Artur Boruc saved well, while City looked dangerous in the early stages and soon they were ahead.

In the 14th minute City won a free kick and De Bruyne waited for Bournemouth’s wall to jump and he cheekily slotted the ball underneath them and in. 1-0 to City.

City were 2-0 up in the 24th minute with a lightning quick counter-attack as De Bruyne played in Raheem Sterling and his perfect pass across goal found Iheanacho who slotted home his third goal in as many games. 2-0 to City.

At the other end Claudio Bravo hesitated after Josh King raced through and Junior Stanislas almost scored from the loose ball.

Normal service was resumed soon after as Aleksandar Kolarov had a shot from distance saved by Boruc and Bournemouth’s goalkeeper saved well from Sterling soon after.

Man City were 3-0 up early in the second half after a swift flowing move saw De Bruyne play in Iheanacho and he set up Sterling who just about bundled the ball home. 3-0. Game over.

City kept pouring forward for the remainder of the game with De Bruye having a free kick saved and Bournemouth’s half-time sub Callum Wilson drove into the box and drilled a shot on goal which Bravo saved.

Sterling forced Boruc to tip over a rising effort and the English winger then raced past five Bournemouth defenders but his shot hit the post. Not to worry. City were soon 4-0 up as De Bruyne slotted in Gundogan with a superb through all and the German international scored on his PL debut with a calm finish.

De Bruyne now has 18 goals and 16 assists in all competitions for City in 48 games. Remarkable.

Bournemouth, to their credit, continued to play and Adam Smith teed up Wilson who hit the crossbar but the game was won before half time as City stay top of the league and remain the team to beat in the PL so far.
