How does Vincent Kompany think Manchester City can stop his Chelsea’s whirlish dervish Eden Hazard from making his runs through their defense?

Bowel sickness.

Kompany lavished praise on his Belgium teammate ahead of Sunday’s big tilt at the Etihad Stadium (Watch live, 11 a.m. ET on NBCSN and online via Live Extra).

The City captain compared Hazard to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of talent, and admitted that City may need help from Hazard’s innards in order to stop the Blues’ star.

From Goal.com:

“You’d almost hope that Eden Hazard would have diarrhea,” Kompany told Het Nieuwsblad .

...

“You can have as many tactical plans as you want, if Eden starts running, it is chaos. He’s at a level where he decides how good his team are.

“Messi and Ronaldo are stats animals. If you look at their talent, you can compare Eden to them. But they score a lot. Unbelievable. But Eden has made so much progression the last few years that it is possible he reaches their level. It wouldn’t even be a bad performance when he ends up just behind Messi and Ronaldo.”

Well, that’s certainly quotable (which is why we’ve done so). And Kompany deserves plenty of credit for his sense of humor and sense of self. Rebounding off a tough 2014-15 is a must for City and its captain, but acknowledging the helplessness of defending Hazard is a good show of respect from the fellow Belgian.
