Vincent Kompany is not just going to miss the Manchester Derby, he could miss the rest of the season.

The Manchester City captain, 29, suffered another calf injury on Tuesday, limping off the Etihad Stadium pitch just minutes into the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal berth clinching draw.

The BBC numbers Kompany’s calf injuries as 14 since 2008. City is currently fourth in the Premier League table.

From the BBC:

Pellegrini expects the player to be out for “a minimum of one month”, adding: “Vincent must be very strong mentally.

“It’s very difficult to accept but he has nothing else to do.”

The minimum of one month covers Sunday’s derby at the Etihad Stadium, as well as matches against Bournemouth, West Brom and Chelsea and both legs of the UEFA Champions League semifinals (The draw will be held Friday).
