The game in 100 words (or less): O Canada! It’s an all-Canadian affair in the Eastern Conference finals with the completion of Toronto FC’s rout demolition humiliation of New York City FC in the second leg of the conference semifianls on Sunday. 2-0 was the score after the first leg. 7-0 was the final score upon the full-time whistle at Yankee Stadium a week later. Sebastian Giovinco, who isn’t a finalist for MLS MVP, bagged a first-half brace to put the tie to bed after 110 minutes of soccer, and Jozy Altidore and Jonathan Osorio tacked on luxury goals either side of halftime to make it 4-0 on the night, 6-0 on aggregate. Giovinco completed his hat trick in second-half stoppage time. The first leg of the East finals will be played at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal in two weeks’ time, with as many as 66,000 in attendance. The two sides played three times during the regular season, with each side winning one, losing one and drawing one. The 401 derby made its playoff debut in 2015, when the Impact thumped TFC, 3-0 in the knockout round.

Three moments that mattered

6' - Giovinco puts the tie out of reach early on — Sure, Giovinco scored a goal at the end of this sequence, but good luck getting to the strike without rewinding to watch the ridiculous first touch again and again.

20' — Giovinco puts the tie to bed 15 minutes later — First, it was Maxime Chanot. Then, it was Frederic Brilliant. Giovinco is so rude for how he’s torturing these defenders. He won the penalty, he converted it.

30' — Altidore rifles a tight-angled volley for 3-0 — Josmer Volmy Altidore is in the form of his life. He’s really feeling himself now.
