MLS Snapshot: Houston Dynamo 1-0 Sporting KC

San Jose Earthquakes v Houston Dynamo

The game in 100 words (or less): Sporting KC’s poor run of form continues after falling 1-0 in Houston, as Sporting has just one win in their last seven matches. Will Bruin’s second half goal was enough to get all three points for Houston, as the Dynamo try to stay alive in the Western Conference playoff race. Houston is now just three points behind Portland for the final playoff spot, but the Timbers do have a game in hand. Sporting remains safe in the fifth spot in the West, but are really backing into the playoffs with their recent slide.

Three moments that mattered

45' -- Boniek Garcia gets yellow for elbow -- Just before the break, Houston’s Boniek Garcia received a yellow card for a high elbow on Dom Dwyer. Garcia went to shield the ball, but caught Dwyer up in the neck area and was rightfully booked.

67' -- Will Bruin breaks the deadlock -- A good team goal from Houston, as DaMarcus Beasley and Brad Davis played a nice one-two to cut through the Sporting defense. Beasley rolled a cross through the box, leaving an easy tap-in for Bruin.

70' -- Boniek Garcia sent off after another elbow -- Another elbow on Dom Dwyer, another yellow card for Boniek Garcia. Already cautioned once for an elbow, it was another shield-attempt gone wrong, as Garcia was sent off after catching Dwyer up high.
