The game in 100 words (or less): A big win for a young club as Orlando City SC defeated a poor Portland Timbers side 2-0 at Providence Park. Only the second win in MLS for Orlando as the 2015 SuperDraft’s number-one pick Cyle Larin scored the first of his early career. Kaka topped things off with a late penalty as they took home three points on the road against a Western Conference opponent. The real story of the match was Portland, who put in a lazy performance at home and didn’t offer much resistance.

Three moments that mattered

30' -- Cyle Larin scores first ever MLS goal -- The 19-year-old Canadian opened the scoring for Orlando City with the first goal of his Major League Soccer career. Kevin Molino took a nice touch down the right side of the box and threw in a cross to Larin, who used his chest to deflect the ball past Adam Kwarasey.

71' -- Ricketts denies Asprilla with a sprawling save -- 37-year-old Donovan Ricketts showed he’s still got it in net with a clutch save on Portland’s Dairon Asprilla. Darlington Nagbe played Asprilla through who reached out to get a shot on net. Moving to his left, Ricketts dove back to his right and got a big hand on the ball to keep Orlando ahead.

85' -- Kaka gets penalty stopped, scores on re-take -- Carlos Rivas came off the bench and made an immediate impact for the visitors, drawing a penalty after getting tripped up by Timbers’ keeper Adam Kwarasey. Kaka stepped up to the spot but Kwarasey made the save, only to have the stop called back as Timbers players were whistled for encroachment. Kaka made no mistake with his second shot, burying the penalty and sealing the win for Orlando.

Man of the match: Brek Shea -- Shea is getting used to playing as an outside wing-back, and you could see the improvements against Portland. The 25-year-old Texan looks more comfortable on the defensive side of the ball while also using his size and speed to contribute offensively as well. There’s still room to grow, but Jurgen Klinsmann will surely be pleased with his progression.
