MLS Sunday Roundup: Galaxy dominate Red Bulls, Dynamo down Fire

The Galaxy cemented their place as one of the top teams in the league with a convincing 4-0 win over New York, while Houston continues to fight for a playoff spot with a 2-0 win over Chicago.

Houston Dynamo 2-0 Chicago Fire

Houston climbed within five points of an Eastern Conference playoff spot with a 2-0 home win over the Chicago Fire. Omar Cummings opened the scoring for Houston, followed by a superb second-half strike from Boniek Garcia to seal the victory. The Dynamo travel to New York to battle the Red Bulls in a crucial matchup in the standings October 4th.

Los Angeles Galaxy 4-0 New York Red Bulls

At the ripe old age of 34, Robbie Keane was a man amongst boys for the Galaxy Sunday night. Keane opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a brilliant individual effort. After taking a pass from Landon Donovan, Keane beat his defender before placing a delicate chip up and over the keeper. Donovan finished the night with one goal and three assists as the Red Bulls defense struggled to handle the Galaxy attack.
