The hits keep on coming for Newcastle United attacker Siem de Jong.
The Dutch playmaker, 26, suffered a second collapsed lung in two years, and will miss a further eight weeks for Newcastle after undergoing surgery.

De Jong has made just three appearances for the Magpies since coming over from Ajax this summer. Counted on to help fill the void left by Yohan Cabaye’s departure last January, de Jong instead has endured a year of pain.
First a torn thigh muscle (ouch), now a second collapsed lung (more ouch).
From the BBC:“After months of hard work getting back to full fitness, it is such bad luck to suffer another setback,” he said.
“We are all hopeful that the surgery I have had will ensure I don’t have any repeat of the condition in the future.
“It’s very sad for me personally, especially since I was almost back in contention and feeling great.
“I’m sorry for my team-mates, the club and our fans that I’m not able to help the team for a little while longer.
“I am determined to come back stronger as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone for your support.”
No one deserves that level of pain. Here’s hoping the Premier League gets to see de Jong’s bright talent before the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Newcastle travels to Crystal Palace for a Wednesday date with former manager Alan Pardew.
