Martin Odegaard has already made a name for himself in his native Norway. Now, the teenager has an opportunity to market himself as one of Europe’s top young talents.
Only 15 years old, Odegaard has already been capped for Norway when he became the youngest player to represent the Scandinavian nation against the United Arab Emirates in August.
Reportedly being followed by Liverpool and Barcelona, Odegaard has been called up for two of Norway’s upcoming Euro 2016 qualifying matches against Malta and and Bulgaria. With the opportunity to play on Europe’s biggest stage, a strong performance by the youngster could lead to a flurry of interest from top clubs around the world.
Odegaard currently plays for Strømsgodset in the Tippeligaen, where he became the youngest player to play in Norway’s top flight. While he continues to develop in his home country, it is likely a bigger European club will come in with an offer that a small club like Strømsgodset could not refuse.
As long as he can stay healthy, we may be looking at the best football talent to come out of Norway since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
