The big man is back in Britain, but is it for a limited-time only?

Oguchi Onyewu, who had a successful but short stint at Sheffield Wednesday last season, could be on the field this weekend when those Owls face Charlton Athletic.

That’s because “Gooch” has signed with Charlton on a short-term contract that runs through January.

He’ll wear No. 15, according to the Addicks, and Onyewu joins a side that’s just four points away from the top of a cluttered English Championship division.

Onyewu, 32, has played at QPR, Malaga, Sporting CP, Twente, AC Milan, Newcastle United, Standard Liege, La Louviere and Metz since leaving Clemson in 2001.

He’s been capped 69 times, scoring six times for the States.

The 6-foot-4 back is perfectly-suited for the English Championship, traits that have found him linked with Major League Soccer in recent months. It appears he’s keen to stay abroad, and we’ll see if he can’t work his way into a full-time spot with a club that could challenge for a spot in the Premier League.
