Watford vs. Crystal Palace — 11 a.m. ET, on NBCSN and Live Extra
It’ll be an unlikely battle of mid-table sides when 12th-place Watford welcome 10th-place Crystal Palace to Vicarage Road. Watford and Palace have taken very different roads to their respective nine-point starts to the season (2W-3D-1L for the former, 3W-0D-3L for the latter).
Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo (four goals) leads the way for Watford, who have scored the second-fewest goals (5) in the Premier League this season (West Bromiwch Albion - 4). For Palace, Bakary Sako and Joel Ward lead the way with two a piece, though the Eagles could be without the latter, their standout right back, once again on Sunday.
With a victory on Sunday, either side could go as high as fifth in the league table. A victory could drop either side as low as 13th, depending on the damage done to their respective goal differentials.
These sides last faced one another on May 27, 2013, in the Championship’s promotion playoff final. Palace won on the day, 1-0 after extra time at Wembley Stadium, earning themselves a place in the Premier League the following season. It took Watford two more go-rounds in the Championship before joining Palace in the “big time.”
