With the game knotted a 0-0, Long entered the match in the 68th minute replacing Sadio Mane. Long immediately made his presence felt, making manager Ronald Koeman look like a mad genius on the touchline.

Long opened the scoring just two minutes after entering the match, curling a left-footed strike beautifully into the side netting for his first goal as a Saint. Just five minutes later it was the Irishman again, controlling a long ball before converting a true striker’s finish.

The Saints are riding high as they sit second on the table, just four points behind Chelsea.
