  • West Ham have one win in their last 18 PL meetings with Chelsea
  • Chelsea have not conceded vs. West Ham in five PL matches
  • Dimitri Payet has created the most goalscoring chances in the league

Upton Park plays host to Chelsea on Saturday, as the Blues travel across London to face West Ham United (Watch live, 10 a.m. ET on NBCSN and online via Live Extra).

This matchup pins two of the biggest storylines of the Premier League season so far, as West Ham have gotten off to a flying start and Chelsea sits down in the bottom half of the table.

Slaven Bilic has West Ham sitting fourth on the table with 17 points through nine matches. However, most of those points have come on the road, as the Hammers have struggled playing at home. Bilic’s men have won just four points at Upton Park, a trend they will try to change on Saturday.

The Hammers will be without some key players against Chelsea, as center-back Winston Reid will miss another match with a back injury. West Ham will also be without winger Victor Moses, who is on loan from Chelsea, and therefore ineligible to play against his parent club. However, Enner Valencia looks set to make his first appearance of the season after suffering a knee injury in July.

While Chelsea has been struggling this season, this match looks like a great chance to get back on track. The Blues have dominated West Ham over the past few seasons, compiling a record of W14, D3, L1 in the last 18 matches. Chelsea have not conceded a goal against West Ham since 2012, currently riding a streak of five straight clean sheets. Jose Mourinho has lost just five of his 52 London derbies in the Premier League.

What they’re saying

Slaven Bilic on the Hammers’ poor home form: “We have to be more patient when we play at home. We have that patience away, and we scored goals at Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool at the right times. We are trying to approach the game in the same way, regardless of where we play.”

Jose Mourinho on staying positive: “The players have been man enough to assume responsibilities and even publicly say that. Statistics are very clear for us. As an example we have conceded six goals as a consequence of isolated individual mistakes, but the team were always together.”

Chelsea has slowly began to put in some better performances, and with a great track record against West Ham, Saturday could be a big three points for the Blues. The absence of Victor Moses will be huge for the Hammers, as their poor home form continues. West Ham United 1-2 Chelsea.
