Go to Europe, they say. It’s a better place to earn your place in the national team, they say.
So far it is not proving the case for Brek Shea, we say.
The Stoke Sentinel says Shea, 24, will be allowed to leave Stoke City on loan or permanently this transfer window despite performing well for the Premier League side in its recent tour of Germany.

Shea was unable to make the World Cup squad despite the USMNT’s perceived lack of depth on the wings, and has played in just 13 matches between Stoke and his loan stint to Barnsley. He left FC Dallas for Europe in January 2013.
From The Stoke Sentinel:Shea is more likely to go out on loan as he seeks the kind of playing time denied him since signing for Stoke in January 2013.
Last season he struggled for confidence during a loan spell at then Championship side Barnsley which ended prematurely.
Shea has been linked with a return to Major League Soccer with multiple teams including Toronto and Orlando City, and perhaps he could be the mystery USMNT player mentioned by Columbus boss Gregg Berhalter.
