Report: Dani Alves will take Juventus medical on Monday

It’s the worst-kept secret in soccer these days, but it won’t be a secret much longer.

After leaving Barcelona this summer, Dani Alves will sign with Juventus on a free transfer after he completes his medical, scheduled for tomorrow according to Sky Sports Italia.

Alves left Barcelona after eight seasons in Catalonia, having activated an opt-out clause in his contract.

The 33-year-old right-back made 29 La Liga appearances for Barcelona last season, but his playing time began to sputter down the stretch, replaced at times by Sergio Roberto.

Juventus technical director Beppe Marotta spoke about the move a few days ago, saying, “We’ve already made two important purchases, Miralem Pjanic and Dani Alves, both of whom will strengthen us.” Barring a hiccup in the medical evaluation, Alves becomes the next in a long list of impressive free pickups by Juventus in recent years. Paul Pogba Sami Khedira are both currently on the squad after signing for free transfers, and Andrea Pirlo was also famously signed on a free transfer in 2011 from AC Milan.
