Chelsea has already made a splash up front this summer with the signing of Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi, but the Blues are still looking to bolster the team’s attack.

Their latest attempt to do so has been snuffed out, though, as Real Madrid has reportedly rejected Chelsea’s bid to acquire attacker Alvaro Morata.

Marca is reporting that Chelsea offered Los Blancos roughly $66 million, however, Real is seeking a fee in the range of $83 million, a sizable difference. Morata’s agent Juanma Lopez is said to be looking to bring the Spanish forward to Stamford Bridge after recently meeting with Chelsea’s higher brass.

Morata has spent the last two seasons at Juventus, following the sale that sent him to Serie A from Real Madrid. The 23-year-old was recently acquired by Real for a second stint after the club exercised its buy-back clause, but it is among strong belief that Morata will be sold off in the coming weeks as Madrid looks to make a profit.

Over the past two seasons, Morata has netted a combined 27 goals in all competitions for Juventus, winning Serie A titles in consecutive years and helping the team finish runners’ up in the 2014/15 Champions League.
