Silly season has been dizzying this time around, but when it comes to the transfer rumor mill and Kevin De Bruyne, the key, it seems, is patience.

De Bruyne has been widely tipped to move to Manchester City, with some reports claiming a $75 million move would be announced as soon as this morning.

But other suitors have emerged since the sale edged closer.

Several outlets are reporting that Bayern Munich has stepped in with an intriguing offer to Wolfsburg: You keep him this year, we’ll take him after the season.

This would allow Wolfsburg the chance to challenge for the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League with the 24-year-old Belgian. The Independent, however, says Bayern is not interested:
“We will definitely not become active in the matter of De Bruyne,” Bayern spokesman Markus Hoerwick told reporters. “This is something the board has decided for some time.”

Meanwhile, the Independent is saying that Manchester United would like to take De Bruyne away from their Manchester rivals. The Red Devils have a glut of attacking midfielders and wingers, and this seems an odd one. Sky Sports says there’s no truth to the rumor.

The Bayern move would make sense, and of course the City move still feels quite likely. The rest feels like a load of hot garbage.
