Salt Lake, Leicester, West Ham make moves; US U-20 attacker to Germany

We’ve got four players switching sides to finish a wild week of rumors and moves.

Leicester City has scooped up promising Ghanaian back Daniel Amartey from FC Copenhagen, beating out Liverpool amongst other purported suitors. The price for the 21-year-old is thought to be around $9 million.

Mauro Zarate has left Upton Park, skipping West Ham for Italy. The 28-year-old striker has five goals this season, and is now set for Fiorentina. La Viola just saw one of its own, Giuseppe Rossi, skip town for Levante in Spain.

Nineteen-year-old Joel Sonora has found a home in Europe. The U.S. U-20 attacker was with Boca Juniors but is moving to Stuttgart, where he’ll start with Stuttgart II.


VfB coach Walter Thomae: “We have taken at Joel two longer trial phase under the microscope and are convinced of his abilities. With his technique and his Torabschluss he can give our offensive play an important impetus. The first step is that he settled quickly and his game adapts to German football. “

Real Salt Lake has taken on former Valencia midfielder Sunday Stephen Obayan. Known as “Sunny”, he’s well-traveled since leaving Los Che, having stopped as CSKA Sofia, Alanyaspor, Bnei Sakhnin and Numancia.
