Toronto FC defeated the Chicago Fire 3-2 on Saturday, with Sebastian Giovinco finishing the match with three assists.

Today, however, MLS has gone back and credited Giovinco with Toronto’s first goal, which was originally awarded to Jonathan Osorio.

That gives Giovinco 20 goals on the season, making Major League Soccer history in his first year in the league.

The Italian international has 20 goals and 15 assists, the first player to ever reach the 20-10 mark.

His 20th goal came from a clever outside of the foot shot/cross, which found the side netting at the back post. While it does look like Osorio got a slight touch on it, MLS has ruled otherwise, giving Giovinco a piece of history.

Giovinco is pretty much a lock to win MLS MVP, and is now just two goals behind Kei Kamara in the Golden Boot race. Kamara has scored 22 goals with three matches to play, while Giovinco has 20 with four to play. Toronto and Columbus face each other on October 17.
