Expect suspensions and possibly some other disciplinary action on sideline staff after an incident at the final whistle of New England’s win over Chicago at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.
What happened will need sorting out, but it apparently involved a New England Revolution trainer, possibly saying something to Chicago Fire defender Bakary Soumare (pictured), who was shown a red card at that point. Shortly thereafter, New England forward Saer Sene was also red carded.
It may have all been connected to an incident from a few minutes earlier, for which Chicago Fire manager Frank Klopas was ejected.
The important thing to remember is that Major League Soccer made a big pre-season to-do about eliminating some of the sideline theatrics. Honestly, it didn’t take; we still see too much of this in MLS.
