Swansea City 0-3 Leicester City: Mahrez hat trick sends Foxes top

Leicester City beat Swansea City 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday with Riyad Mahrez scoring a hat trick to send the Foxes to the top of the Premier League table.

Mahrez scored twice in the first half and then added another in the second as Leicester put Swansea to the sword.

Claudio Ranieri’s side now have 32 points after 15 games this season, while Garry Monk’s Swansea are now winless in five as their struggles continue.

The Foxes went ahead inside the first five minutes as Fuchs come close to heading in a corner but the missed the ball and it hit Mahrez on the back and went in. 1-0 to Leicester.

Leicester went so close to doubling their lead soon after as a long ball over the top found Vardy but Lukasz Fabianski saved well as the red-hot striker closed in on goal.

Soon after it was 2-0 as Kante’s superb pass in behind Swansea’s defense found Mahrez who beat the offside trap. 2-0 to Leicester with 20 minutes gone. It could have been three for Leicester and Mahrez soon after but Fabianski again saved Swansea’s blushes as Monk’s side were all over the place.

Leonardo Ulloa should have made it 3-0 before the break but he curled an effort wide of the post with Swansea’s defense at sixes and sevens.

The home side started the second half well with a combination of Ki and his marker heading the ball against the crossbar. Despite the Swans improving in the second half, Leicester looked increasingly dangerous on the break.

That was exactly how Mahrez and Leicester grabbed their third as Kante played in Vardy who squared the ball to the Algerian international to make it 3-0. Bafetimbi Gomis and Gylfi Sigurdsson went close for the hosts -- the latter hitting the post -- and Vardy missed two glorious chances to extend his scoring streak to 12-straight games but his glorious run was halted.

Vardy won’t mind one bit as Leicester’s fairytale season continues with the Foxes on top of the PL table.
